While this is supposed to be professional and probably mention credentials or something, I'm going to ramble for a minute instead.

Hi.

I'm Matthew Hogan, and I love Jesus, Sara, traveling, music, and all things photography related.

15 years ago, I first picked up my dad's old 35mm film camera. I had no idea that photography wouldn't just be that of a hobby that I'd enjoy here and there, but that throughout the next 7 years, I'd be preparing for something that would soon become a full time career.

What started with an immense love for portraiture and lighting, soon grew into a love for weddings! While God was there through it all (as he always is), as of the last year or so, I've really felt him drawing me into the world of cinematography for the advancement of his Kingdom. As seamless as this sentence was easily written here on this site's about page, it was far harder to make the transition than it might have seemed to those around me.

Weddings were easy. Weddings were convenient. Weddings were fun. More than anything, weddings paid quite well, and without knowing it, that became the driving factor in seeking them out over the 7 years that I shot them.

"Don't love money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said "I will never fail you. I will never abandon you." -Hebrews 13:5

While people publicly praised me for my work, as briefly satisfying as that would be, internally, I wasn't fulfilled. As crazy as it might sound to some, I had to make a choice:

Would I continue down the path that I already knew, investing in my bank account, or would I change paths into what was pretty unknown at the time, investing in an eternal reward? Satan can be quite sneaky in his spiritual attacks, which surprisingly enough, came mostly from people who I was close to. I heard everything from "you need to provide for your family and think about the future" to "while doing work for the Lord is fun and all, you can't make a living off of that", which didn't exactly help in pursuing the transition.

"Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and he will give you everything you need." -Luke 12:31

From out of nowhere, I started daydreaming about traveling around the world with a camera in my hand, not for my own benefit, but for God's calling on my life. After having traveled everywhere from Alaska to Mexico and beyond for fun, pretty photography-related work, the thought of trekking through the slums in third world countries didn't seem as enticing at first, but strangely enough, I couldn't stop thinking about places like that. After he provided a way for me to travel with Parental Care Ministries to Uganda, Africa to visit orphanages (click here to see that work), my world CHANGED. I finally fully let go of trying to direct my life, and let God be exactly that... God.

"Come, follow me." -Jesus

Once my two feet landed on African soil, my heart, if for the first time ever, felt like it truly started to beat...

World missions.

It was as if he whispered those two words directly into my ears, as ever since then, I've switched gears, after countless years of shooting both portraits and weddings, to pursuing ministry related video work full time. I even got married to my best friend Sara in September of 2015! Less than a few months after getting married, God moved quickly in sending us off, as we've been able to create video work in both Iraq and Uganda together, and plan on going back if he so wills it!

Now ends my slightly random, slightly long story, which leads me to YOU.

If you're a missionary, if you're a church, if you're a non-profit, if you're in love with Jesus, feel free to send me a message, as I'd absolutely love to see if I can be a part of helping out your ministry or organization in some way!

Let's work together on something much bigger than ourselves, as we all are a part of one body of believers, helping spread the good word around this lovely, temporary home from town to town, village to village, nation to nation.

"But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them? And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent? That is why the Scriptures say, “How beautiful are the feet of messengers who bring good news!" -Romans 10:14-15
